We were approached by the client at the planning stage to consult with their project manager and architect to provide detailed wiring schematics in preparation for the tender process of this fantastic new development.
Our initial role was to design and provide a budget proposal to encompass a TV/Satellite, multi-zoned public address system, HD distribution, CCTV, cable termination and to supply large screen TVs. We consulted with all parties throughout this process to ensure the tender document was accurate and straightforward.
Due to the many different aspects and technologies required to meet the solution we specified a full size cabinet to be housed behind the judging arena. We worked hand in hand with the electrical contractor to agree a discreet position for the aerial and satellite dish, confirm speaker and camera positions and keep everything on schedule.
The PA system is divided into three zones; Main Arena, Surrounding Stables and Restaurant, all to individually have the facility to adjust the volume and source in that area. Inputs into the system include a Paging Microphone situated at the judges panel for announcements, a wireless Lapel Microphone, FM/AM/DAB/Internet Radio, iPod docking station and a satellite receiver. The manufacturer for the PA system is the well established and ultra reliable Cloud. We specifically chose Cloud due to their complete turnkey solution for PA, manufacturing their own amplifiers, mixers, paging microphones and volume controls.
We provided two 65” Samsung LED TVs for the Restaurant area and insisted on maximising their picture quality by use of a HDMI Matrix from leading manufacturer HD Anywhere. This allowed us to centrally locate the satellite receiver and DVD player within the rack, distributing the HD quality picture via the CAT6 infrastructure to the two TVs.
In order to easily operate the TVs, Satellite receiver, Blu-Ray and HDMI matrix the decision was made to add in a control system. We once again specified Control4 to blend all the different technologies into one simple to use interface. In the restaurant we provided an in wall 7” Touch Panel as the main choice of control. We completely simplified the look of the touch panel, providing as few buttons as possible to save confusion and tailored the artwork with the Ballavartyn branding (which the client particularly liked)!
The overall finish to the whole equestrian centre is outstanding and we have seamlessly integrated all of this technology subtly and the end result is very simple for everyone to use. You do not need experience to use any aspect of the system, anyone with access can operate everything they need and the response we have had from the client and staff has been very pleasing to here. The performance of the Cloud PA system, the picture quality from HD Anywhere and Samsung and the ease of use via Control4 make this another project that not only exceeds the clients expectation but that we are also immensely proud of.
