About

CleerVu Aerial & Satellite Specialists began trading from premises at 21 Well Road Hill, Douglas, Isle of Man in September 1973, having been founded by Tam and Susan MacLaren. In the early days there was one Bedford Viva van fitted out with ladders and stock for aerial installations, Tam undertook the aerial installations whilst Susan ran the shop.

As trade increased the need for larger premises meant that after 8 years on Well Road Hill, CleerVu moved to their present premises in Senna Road.

Over the years CleerVu have gained a reputation for quality workmanship, coupled with a friendly reliable service. Demand for our services has led to us now employing a team of engineers and office staff to cater for the ever growing range of services that we offer. If you are out and about on the Isle of Man you will probably pass one of our vans on their travels to our loyal customers!

Although the industry has changed quite dramatically over the years it’s our aim at CleerVu to maintain the high standards required to keep us ahead of the competition. We always look to innovate with the latest technology that comes along whilst continuing to offer the core services that our reputation has been built on.

Confederation of Aerial Industries Members

We have been a member of the CAI for over 30 years, in order to become a member of the CAI a company must undergo a rigorous inspection and be subject to continuous assessment. This is the customers guarantee of service, as they can call upon the CAI in matters if dispute or complaint.

Most importantly the CAI are regularly in touch with the relevant government departments and broadcasters and so have their finger on the pulse of the latest developments. This is why it is always recommended that customers use a CAI member to perform any aerial or satellite work.

The CAI Plus Scheme was launched to create a higher membership category than already existed in order to allow engineers to gain recognition as Qualified Digital Installers.

This shows the public that the CAI engineers are trained, regulated to a high standard, are professional and that the Confederation has every regard for their abilities for the digital switchover.

CAI Plus members, in addition to current CAI membership requirements, are required to demonstrate:

  • That they have been vetted with a Criminal Records Bureau(CRB) check.
  • That they do hold certification proving CAI minimum standard liability insurance – Employers liability or the public/tradesman’s liability. (£2m for domestic installers and £5m for systems installers).
  • That they do hold certification proving Working Safely at Heights course has been completed.

All CleerVu engineers are certified at CAI Plus level.

It’s CleerVu not Clear View, Cleer View or ClearVu!

The history of our company name is that it is to illustrate the key principle of the service that we offer all of our customers – a Clear View of your Television pictures.
